  All Day International Fair  

International Fair, Mattis Avenue Free Methodist Church, 1913 S. Mattis Avenue, Champaign. 6 to- 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 5. The Fair features displays, exhibits and snacks from a dozen different countries, prepared by internationals from Mattis Avenue English Conversation classes. Free admission.


In this autobiographical drama, a broken taillight leads to the brutal beating of a highly educated, middle-class black man by a policeman in suburban Virginia. The Kennedys interweave the trial of the victimized son (accused of assaulting the offending officer) with the mother's poignant letters in his defense and her remembrances of growing up in the 1940s, when her parents were striving "to make Cleveland a better place for Negroes."   n/a n/a Champaign County Town & Country Amateur Art Show  

Springer Cultural Center hosts annually the Town & Country County Amateur Art Show.  These shows are held throughout the state to encourage amateur artists to experiment with the visual arts.  It’s an opportunity for youth and adults who are not professionally trained in drawing, painting, sculpting, photography, printmaking, digital media, pottery and crafts to have an opportunity to display their talent in this show.  The show is jurored by a professional in the area of arts.  There are two divisions to enter, youth and adult. Those who receive a blue ribbon or Best of Show are eligible to enter the State Town & Country Amateur Art Show in the fall. Hours vary visit for more info.
