Arthur Freedom Celebration + Fireworks

Come check out the 100+ entry parade and celebrate Freedom in one of the most unique areas in Illinois! 
You haven't seen a fireworks display unless you've seen Arthur's massive display! Don't miss the fun at Jurgens Park!

Audiofeed Music Festival

More than 120 bands and a variety of speakers. The festival focuses on independent and "edgy" Christian music and culture. Early camping admission starting at 9 A.M. June 29. General admission begins 8 A.M. June 30. Music starts at 5:20 P.M. June 29 until midnight July 2. Worship, 9:30 to 10:30 A.M. July 3. Champaign County Fairgrounds, 1302 N. Coler Ave., Urbana. Full event tickets and day passes are available. Price ranging from single day, $35, to RV site, $90. Tickets available at the gate.

Great Rocket Launch of 2017

Central Illinois Aerospace model rocket club is holding its biggest rocketry event of the year, GARLO 2017. Fliers with rockes of all sizes will be welcome and all spectators are invited to come and watch. Wings of Wonder

SEe magnigicent tropical birds from Wings of Wonder Avian Rescue, a nonprofit based in Mahomet. Learn all about adopting and caring for these exotic pets who need new homes. 3 to 3:45 pm July 1. Champaign Public Library, 200 W. Green St.

Parade at 1 PM, and fireworks at dark.

Ice Cream and Independence at the Virginia Theatre

Ice cream social at 7 pm (doors open at 6).

Thunder Over Lake Vermilion

4th of July Party and 80th Anniversary Fireworks Celebration, at Danville Boat Club. Doors open at 5:30 PM. Fireworks at 9:45 PM. $5 admission for adults and free for children under 10.

2017 Summer Reading Programs for All Ages

This summer, make time to read the books you love and win prizes just for reading!  Read books of your choice (including eBooks and audiobooks), and attend fun programs. Get ready for Reading by Design!  2017 Summer Reading Program Information Brochure (Printable PDF)

For Children

  •     For children birth through those entering grade 6 – both readers and listeners.
  •     Each time you read at least 15 minutes, mark your reading log.
  •     Bring your completed log to the Library to receive a free book plus coupons for local businesses.
  •     For each additional log you complete, you will receive another free book!
  •     Parents and caregivers who read to a child registered in the program receive a free book.

For Teens

  •     For teens who have completed grades 6 through 12.
  •     Select books of your choice and keep track of the number of pages read.
  •     Every time you read 1,000 pages, come to the Library to pick out a free book from our selection of new books.
  •     Reading also enters you in a weekly raffle to win a complete book series.

For Adults

  •     For adults who love to read. Why let kids have all the fun?
  •     Read books of your choice and record your reading progress.
  •     After you read 4 books, stop by the Library to select a free book from our selection of popular books.
  •     Keep reading!  For each additional four books you complete, you will receive another free book!
